Nairobi City will be in the finals of the East and Central Inter-cities basketball tournament after they easily beat Kampala ‘B’ 83-32 in the last preliminary match on Friday afternoon.
The Kenyan representatives took all the quarters with the 1st quarter ending 16-8 then in the 2nd quarter they added 25 points while the hosts had 13 points to put the half time scores at 41-21. The 3rd quarter saw Kampala ‘B’ manage only 3 points while Nairobi thumped in 25 points once more with the quarter ending 66-24.
Nairobi had defeated Kampala ‘A’ 62-44 on Thursday and they made sure that was the same fate with the ‘B’ team and they finished off their opponents in the last quarter with a 17-8 win. Emma Nyakweba, Linda Alando and Zipporah Adhiambo gave Nairobi 13, 11 and 10 points respectively while Joy Chemutai gave Kampala ‘B’ 10 points followed by Segai Asimwe who had 9 points.
Nairobi will therefore meet Mukono representing Uganda in the finals of the tournament on Saturday afternoon. Mukono is the team that has poised the biggest challenge in Nairobi’s title defence so far despite going down 73-67 in the preliminary matches on Wednesday.
