Kenya: Inter-Cities Basketball - Nairobi Stuns Mukono

East & Central Inter-Cities Basketball Championship
Nairobi 73 Mukono 67
MUKONO point guard Maureen Amoding fell short in her attempts to lift her team past defending champions Nairobi in the annual East and Central basketball inter-cities championship on their way to a 73-67 defeat.
Amoding scored a game-high 29points which helped Mukono close a 10 point gap going into the 4th quarter but in the end, her efforts were not enough.
"They (Nairobi) are talented but they definitely can be matched. We faced almost all of them in one-on-one situations and won those battles but all we lacked was belief in the first three quarters," Amoding explained after the painful loss.
Purity Adhiambo weighed in significantly too but it was Peace Proscovia whose performance turned heads; chipping in with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Captain Hilda Hindesi whose three point shot with just 30seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter to give Nairobi a 70-67, top scored for Nairobi with 16 points.
Nairobi and Kampala A remain the only unbeaten sides left in the tournament and the two face off today at 2pm.
