KENYA : Double win for KU Pirates in Div One league

The Kenya Basketball Federation Division One league had four matches played at the Nyayo Gymnasium. On Saturday one match played which saw Kenyatta University Pirates overwhelm Parklands 70-54.
Pirates won the first 3 quarters (26-15, 15-7, 12-11) but lost the last quarter with 4 points the scores being 21-17. Richard Adega was the match top scorer getting 18 points for Parklands while Gilbert Obiero sunk in 14 points for the winners.
In Sunday’s matches K.A.A beat Umoja 78-66 in the first match of the day while Equity managed to hold off high school students, Upper Hill 56-47. In the K.A.A versus Umoja match, Umoja took the first half of the match the scores being 36-26 at half time.
The subsequent quarters saw K.A.A rally back with a 23-11 win in the 3rd quarter then made sure they take the 2 league points with a 29-19 win in the last quarter. Evans Ochieng had 22 points for K.A.A while Erick Rueben put his name on the score sheet with an impressive 31 points.
In the last match of the day KU Pirates secured their second win of the weekend after the close encounter against KCA-U. In the first quarter of the match Pirates had 12 points while KCA University had 8 points of which both teams later drew with the same number of points (8 points)in the 2nd quarter.
KCA took charge of the 3rd quarter with a narrow 14-13 win but could not contain Pirates in the last quarter after they lost out with 12 points against their opponents 15 points. Pirates’ duo of Jonah Lando and Collins Wekesa each had 10 points while Erick Wafula also scored 10 points for KCA.
