ANGOLA : National Basketball Coach Sacked
Luanda — The coach of the Angolan national senior men team of basketball, José Carlos Guimarães, was sacked from the post, Angop learned Wednesday from a federation source.
According to the deputy president of the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), Eurico Araújo, the former African champion will instead take the post of technical advisor to the FAB president.
José Carlos Guimarães, whose contract will terminate on August 31 this year, was appointed national basketball coach in May 2012 and led the team during the pre-Olympic tournament of Caracas (Venezuela), from July 2-8 .
The new technical team will be presented on Thursday during a press conference that will also announce the list of players summoned into the national team.
