UGANDA : Inter-Cities Basketball: Mukono ladies make solid start

MUKONO ladies team made a statement of intent in the opening game of the annual Inter-cities Basketball tournament that kicked off on Monday with 71-44 points win over KCCA B at the Lugogo Arena.
The side that finished fourth in the last edition, after losing to KCCA A in the third place playoff, opened this campaign looking the hungrier team.
Mukono outscored KCCA B in three of the four quarters and the team’s skipper, Purity Adiambo attributed the near perfect performance to their strategy which focused on cramping their opponents for space.
“With this attitude, we will win this championship. The challenge is their but still, we are going to give it our best to reach the finals and clinch it,” Adiambo explained after their resounding win.
Adiambo lead her side’s scoring with 17points and 10 rebounds while vice-captain Maureen Amoding on bagged 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Joy Chemutal made a game-high 21points but couldn’t stop her team from tasting defeat Mukono.
