UGANDA : Enabu Set to Haunt Power

JIMMY Enabu's promising future will confront his decorated past on the opening night of the 2013 National Basketball League (NBL), Friday at Lugogo.
Ahead of a season that could radically change the face of local hoops, FUBA released the new-look first round regular-season fixture for the men and women's top tiers on Saturday and made the developing story of one of Uganda's upcoming gems the focus of Day 1.
Enabu will lead the newly promoted City Oilers, aiming to become the next big thing in the NBL, against D'Mark Power - the top dogs of the last five years, taking three titles.
Enabu was part of Power's last championship winning side in 2011 but has just joined the Oilers, who are only into their third season but have the wealth and ambition to be a contender now and beyond.
The first game of the campaign will actually feature NBL defending women champions KCCA Leopards and rivals A1 Challenge, who have failed to contend for the title for the last two years.
There is plenty of promise in this season, with the adoption of significant structural and cosmetic changes like the renaming of all FUBA divisions and a reformatted fixture.
There will be no NBL matches on Saturday, for instance.
NBL match-days have been reduced to Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Four new match venues also join the fixture this season, after a move to hold all inter-university games at the home team's campus.
These are UCU, KIU, Nkumba and Ndejje.
National Basketball League:
Friday, MTN Arena
Women: KCCA v A1
Men: Power v Oilers
