NIGERIA : Plateau Rocks Fortify Team With Two New Players
Head Coach of Plateau Rocks, Alex Guwan yesterday said in Jos that the state's female basketball team had signed in two more players to strengthen its squad.
Guwan informed that the signing in of the new players was part of the team's preparation for the forthcoming second phase of the 9th Zenith Bank female basketball tournament scheduled for Asaba, Delta.
"We have signed on two players to strengthen our team in preparations for the 9th Zenith Bank female basketball tournament holding in Asaba.
"We will recruit more players if time permits. Besides, some of the players who were in school have returned.
"We will continue to reorganise the team until we get a perfect team to prosecute the tournament," he said.
The chief coach said the experience of the team during the first phase of the tournament held in Abuja in March necessitated the signing on of the players.
Guwan added: "Although we did well in the first phase by emerging third out of the eight teams in Group B, I believe with the new blood that is injected in the team, we will emerge victorious in Asaba.
"The phase two is very important to us because if we succeed, we will be among the eight teams that will emerge from Groups A and B to participate in the finals in Lagos."
He commended the State Director of Sports and the management of Plateau Sports Council for the support given to the team.
