KENYA : Strathmore Blades slay Lions in KBF Premier League

Strathmore “Blades” University on Sunday afternoon beat Lions 62-59 in the KBF Premier League at the Nyayo Gymnasium to hand their opponents their first defeat of the 2013 season.
Lions took the first quarter with 14 points against the students 10 points then in the 2nd quarter Strathmore managed to take it with a single point the scores being 16-15 and this put the half time scores at 29-26 in favor of Lions.
The 3rd quarter saw the two teams draw with 11 points each but in the high scoring last quarter the Madaraka based students squeezed past Lions with 22 points against 19 points to take the day. Chiza Aristote gave Lions 13 points while Samuel Odera had 17 points in the match.
In the women’s Premier League match played at the same venue Safe Spaces managed to beat Mennonites 38-24. Mennonites won the 1st quarter with 7 points against Safe Spaces 6 points but Safe Spaces won the subsequent quarters the scores being 8-2 in the 2nd quarter, 7-5 in the 3rd and 17-10 in the last quarter.
