KENYA : Safe Spaces Aims High in National League This Year

National basketball league side, Safe Spaces is determined to reach the playoffs of the women's league at the end of the season in only their second year in the Premiership.
The 2011 Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) champions lost their first match of the year at the hands of Cooperative Bank ten days ago but point guard, Penina Nthenya, said the team is very motivated this time round and they were looking forward to an improved performance. "Last year was a learning moment for us and now, the players have got more experience. This was our first season in the national league and we have a lot of room for improvement," said Nthenya.
"We will be targeting to finish in the top eight to remain in the playoffs at the end of the year," added Nthenya.
He was speaking during a tournament dubbed 'Umoja Pamoja Tuvumiliane' at Moi Forces Academy, where members of Safe Spaces team returned to boost their various local teams drawn from Kamukunji constituency. They included Majengo, Mathare, California and Eastleigh. Safe spaces will face USIU at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium this weekend.
