Kenya: Asumbi Triumph
Defending champions Asumbi of Nyanza beat Kagumo of Central 88-20 in men's basketball encounter as Kenya Teachers Colleges Sports Association Ball Games entered the second day in Murang'a yesterday.
This was Asumbi's first match of the tournament and according to coach Paul Odok, the team intends to build on the performance to wage a campaign to retain the trophy they clinched for the first time last year.
Arial Okal starred for Asumbi with game high of 38 points during the match played under cool atmosphere at Murang'a Teachers College.
Baringo Teacher Training College achieved their first victory when they overcame Shanzu 35-20 in the other men's contest.
In women's basketball, Asumbi beat Baringo 37-12, Eregi beat Shanzu 35-20 while Kagumo beat Machakos 49-13.
