FCT Angels basketball club of Abuja which lost its first game at the ongoing 9th Zenith Bank National Women's League phase 1 to Sunshine Angels of Akure 47 to 66 points have blamed the loss on fatigue. Coach of the team Emmanuel Odah said the girls were tired even before the game started having waited for so long before the match started. He said the girls were hungry and weak when they eventually entered the court. "The opening game in Group A against Sunshine Angels was to be played at 2pm and the girls came out very early for the opening ceremony in anticipation that they will play at 2pm but the event dragged and they could not leave to eat so they entered the court after 2 hours for the game. That affected them as fatigue set in and they got tired out."
Odah said despite the opening defeat his dream of ending the league as the first 3 remains as the girls will come out stronger today against new entrants the Coal City girls from Enugu.
Assistant coach of the team Sunday Asisi described the loss as painful stating that the girls were tired exhausted before the jump ball. He said he does not believe that Sunshine girls were better than his team but the encounter was lost due to tiredness and fatigue.
