NIGERIA : Zenith Bank league : NBBF introduces final-8 play-offs
Nigeria Basketball Federation on Wednesday announced that the format of the Zenith Bank League for Women has been changed with the admission of six new teams into the system.
The new competition arrangement was made public on Wednesday by the President of the Federation Mr. Tijjani Umar while addressing the media at the National Stadium in Lagos on the details of the competition for the new season.
By the new format the 16 teams will be divided into two groups with the defending champions, First Deepwater basketball and runner-up, First Bank basketball club seeded. The third and fourth teams from the previous season will take up the second spots while the other teams will go through a draw process to determine the group they play.
The new teams are Benue Queens of Markudi, Oluyole Babes of Ibadan, Coal City Queens of Enugu, GT 2000 of Kaduna, Taraba Hurricanes of Jalingo and the Adamawa State teams of Yola.
