GAMBIA : YMCA Sees Off Saints

The Young Men Christian Association, YMCA, Saturday narrowly defeated the Saints Augustine's Senior Secondary School team by 58 points to 52 in the ongoing Gambia Basketball Association domestic national league.
Following an impressive and resounding victory over title rivals Wallidan the other week, the YMCA team were given a good run for their money, this time by the high sSchool boys in a tough encounter played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Speaking to Observer Sports after the game, the head coach of YMCA, Foday Singhateh, blamed complacency on the part of his players for their failure to see off the game more comfortably. "We expected this really (tough match). Our players have not been coming to training. We won Wallidan and they think the league is finished. I told them that this team is the one training with Wallidan everyday. So they will come to win us so that we can be level with Wallidan.
"Our problem is that we are trying to discipline the players. Most of the players don't come to training. The ones training are those we give chance to play. Well, we can still be at the top because our aim is to be in the first three in the league and now we are leading we will try to stay there until the end of the league," he remarked.
