The national men's basketball team head coach Moise Mutokambali has targeted the finals berth in the forthcoming Fiba Zone V Championships due in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Mutokambali said, "Our target is to reach the finals which can give us the motivation to win, my players have a winning mentality and I am confident we can maintain it in the competition"
"My main target is to advance through the group stages and compete in the finals which are always difficult."
"The team is doing well in training and morale is high among the players, which is a good thing if we are to do well and I hope we go into this competition with a strong character and mentality to win"
"The players are competitive and strong; they are improving so we will go there with purpose of reaching the final"
"With this group of young and experienced players, I believe we will do well in the tournament"
In a related development, Cercle Sportif de Kigali's new signing Gedega Bunene Kajeguhakwa and France based Thierry Sukusuku have been summoned for the zonal tournament while Seattle Community College player Dan Rugamba has entered camp.
Hamza Ruhezamihigo, Isom Cedric, Brannon Darrius, Kenneth Gasana and Bradley Cameron Curtis are expected this week.
The one week tournament is expected to attract Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, South Sudan and hosts Tanzania.
