KENYA : Kenyan basketball players to tour USA

A team of talented basketball players drawn from schools around Kenya are preparing for a tour of USA starting 19th of January to 7th February 2013 where they will take part in the Cleveland Cavaliers Holiday Basketball Program.
The players will be involved in exchange programs that will include a training camp, player development, clinic and a tournament to be played in Cleveland USA.
The players who are currently training at the Railway Club completed high school between 2011 and 2012 and those in possession of exceptional talents stand a chance of landing scholarships in USA.
The players are drawn from Alliance Boys, Mangu Boys, Starehe Boys, Jamhuri School, Upper Hill, Maseno School, Lenana School, Nairobi International School, Aquinas Boys, Laiser Hill for boys while Alliance Girls, Precious Blood Riruta, Moi Nbi Girls, St.George's Girls Nairobi, Butere Girls, Kerugoya Girls, Pangani Girls and Nyakach Girls form the Pool for the girls’ team players.
According to Juma Abdalla of Kent Footprints Foundation, while in the USA, the players will get a chance to watch NBA Live Matches as well as play a number of high profiled matches.
“The team will get a chance to watch the NBA live games of Cleveland Cavs Vs Milwaukee Bucks and the Cavs Vs Oklahoma City match on 25th Jan and 02nd Feb respectively. They will also land an opportunity to watch College, University Games while coaches and scouts through The National Basketball Academy will watch them play for possibility of giving Scholarships to some of the talents we have.” Kent says.
