KENYA : Kenya ladies extend good run with win over Rwanda
The Kenya ladies basketball team continued with their impressive form at the Zone 5 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania defeating defending champions Rwanda 71- 49 on Wednesday afternoon.
The win is Kenya's 3rd at the regional tournament after they beat hosts Tanzania 74-32 in their first game on Monday then thrashed Burundi 86-44 the following day.
Kenya's next game will be against Egypt on Thursday. The women's category at the qualifiers is being played on a round robin format and this means Kenya will meet Uganda in their last match. If Kenya beats Egypt and Uganda then they would have secured a spot in the African Cup of Nations due to the fact of being the top team at the tournament.
Kenya's Vice Captain Hilda Indasi was at it once again terrorizing the Rwandan defense and at the end of the match, she had 32 points, the highest in the game followed by Angela Akoth who had 17 points.
Kenya won the 1st quarter 21-12 but lost in the 2nd quarter with a single point the scores being 13-14. The 3rd and 4th quarters saw the Kenyans dominate once more, winning the 3rd quarter with 21 points against 8 and the last quarter 18-15.
Henderisadu Tiema was Rwanda's top scorer with 25 points followed by Mahoro Leticia who had 13 points.
The Kenya men's team had no match on Wednesday.
