Kenya: Girls Basketball Hits Burundi to Win Second Match
KENYA women's team yesterday posted their second win in a row in the FIBA Africa Zone Five Nations Cup qualifiers after whipped Burundi 89-44 in an easy tie at the National Stadium in Dar, Tanzania.
Ronnie Owino's girls rolled away to a authoritative 26-11 first quarter margin and never looked back. Burundi had the edge in the second quarter, out-scoring the Kenyans 18-16 but that was as far as they could go.
After the break, Kenya rampaged to a 21-8 advantage and another staggering display in the fourth had the at 23-7 in favour of the winners.
Once again, Hilda Indasi was who showed the way, pouring in a game high 26 points. Angela Okoth bagged 11 and Grace Wanjiku managed 11. For the Burundians, Nezerwa Ines matched Indasi point for point leading her inexperienced team in style as she sunk 26 points while Sifa Florence bagged another 16.
"This team is on fire," said captain Silalei Shani.In their opening fixture Kenya thumped Tanzania 74-32.
