KENYA : Reigning Champions Co-Op Now Staring At Play-Off Abyss

REIGNING men's basketball champions Co-operative Bank of Kenya are staring at play off elimination. They meet KCB Lions in play off Game Two at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium tomorrow.
In Mombasa, women's champions Eagle Wings and United States International University (USIU) will be facing Kenya Ports Authority sides in what will be explosive matches after the porters fell in Nairobi last week.
Co-op fell 59-67 and will be eliminated if they stumble against their fiercest rivals. Titus Musembi, Joseph Khaemba and Tony Abondo played their hearts out in that loss and should give their all again.
But Lions want to finish-off the series and in Ancette Wafula, Chiza Nturara, Tobias Onyango KCB are capable of sending Co-op home early.
USIU played a stormer in their 104-88 win over KPA. They are determined to lock the home team out of the show. In Joseph Khaemba, Victor Bosire and Kevin Macharia, Tigers have high hopes of advancing.
KPA will parade the productive Lugasi brothers Fred and Alex. Eagle Wings prevailed 56-49 against KPA in Nairobi. But at the Makande welfare hall, they will find the porters a very different proposition. Millicent Anyango has returned and will team up with Hellen Oketch, Carol Mureji and Mwajuma Suleiman to lock Wings out.
USIU Flames will call upon Hilda Indasi and Cynthia Irankunda once again as they hope to finish the job against Co-op Bank whom they dismissed 69-55. Sila Asila wll be key for the bankers.
Nakuru Club host Upper Hill School at Menengai High School. The Nairobi side won the first encounter 72-63 and will make history with a win as the only high school side to play in the top league.
The other lower division tie will draw Nairobi Aviation College (NAC) 74-72 winners against Kenya Airports Authority. The classification matches, Ulinzi Warriors play Thunder, NYTA Shimba Hills meet Sprite Storms, Kenya College of Accountancy University tackle Parklands Baptist.
