Kenya Basketball Premier League defending champions Co-op Bank recovered from Wednesday's game one falling to USIU Tigers to defeat the students 71-60 on Saturday at the Nyayo Gymnasium in game two and push the final playoffs to game three to be played on Sunday afternoon.
Co-op Bank started on a positive note overcoming their opponents 20-10 in the 1st quarter. The students recovered well in the second quarter to overturn the results winning 13-09. At half time the scores were separated by six points with Coop Bank enjoying the lead on 29-23.
But Tigers had a fine run in the third quarter slowly getting back to the match with an 18-10 win. However, the students showed faded power in the final quarter easily losing balls and remaining frail in their defense to allow a bankers recap of their form with a comfortable 32-19 win in the final quarter that won the match and pushed the finals to day three.
With the results tied at one all after two matches, the winner of the third match will walk away with the title trophy with Coop bank looking at retaining their title won last season while USIU students fancy a glorious maiden title after a fine season in both the men and women categories.
Earlier at the same venue, Eagle Wings retained their title after winning game 2 (67-62) of their encounter against the hard fighting and entertaining USIU Flames.
