"It will be either early or late January but we will make the date public in advance," said Maluwe. He said despite the re-schedule they are proceeding with preparation of the event which has 12 countries that have confirmed to compete.
He named the teams which have confirmed to participate for the event as Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Egypt, Sudan and Southern Sudan.
Maluwe said the national sides completed phase one training camp in Dar es Salaam as hosts remained optimistic for better performance in the forthcoming event. He said a team of four local coaches under the supervision of technical skills from the newly hired US coach Albert Sokaitis trained the basketball players, who form men and women national teams.
Magesa named the local coaches as Everist Mapunda (Pazi), Leonard Kwale (ABC), Agnella Semwaiko (Don Bosco Lioness) and Bahati Mgunda (Vijana).
