KENYA : Lions Face Muliro As Play-Offs Start
PREMIER league basketball leaders KCB Lions will take on Masinde Muliro University of Agriculture and Technology (MUST) in the play offs starting this weekend.
According to the draws released yesterday by Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) competitions secretary Joseph Amoko, reigning champions Co-operative Bank tackle Ulinzi Warriors in a tough game.
Kenya Ports Authority have a date with Thunder at home while a fierce varsity rivalry pits United States International University (USIU) "Tigers" against Strathmore University "Blades".
In the women's match ups, KPA who won 37-23 over Western Delight in Kakamega over the weekend confront Sprite Storms while champions Eagle Wings have a date with Strathmore University.
Co-op Bank and USIU Flames who finished third and second respectively have yet to know their opponents. This will be determined after NYTA Shimba and Western Delight completed their fixtures.
The lower division matches will see run away leaders Nairobi Aviation College face Kenyatta University "Pirates", Nakuru Club host Parklands Baptist, Umoja meet Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) while Kenya College of Accountancy University take on Upper Hill.
The quarter finals will be played on a home and away basis with the semis and finals slated for December 15 on a best of three series. The league will conclude on December 23.
Meanwhile USIU) blanked Strathmore University 69-39 in the University and Colleges League (UCBL) league matches played at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) over the weekend.
Hilda Indasi nailed 16 points for Flames while Susan Manya also hit 16 for the Swords. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuata) thumped Mount Kenya University (MKU) 39-9 as Caroline Ngerechi scored eight points for the winners and Pauline Mwanhi had seven for the losers.
