UGANDA : Ndejje beat Vegetarian to seal playoff place

There was no Soro but no problem for Ndejje University Angels as they beat Vegetarian 53-33 on Saturday to cement a playoff place. Ndejje’s top scorer, Geoffrey Soro sat out due to the injury he sustained in the game against Nkumba Marines.
The win meant that even if Ndejje lost their last game of the season (to Rez Life) and Nkumba won their game against Eagles (today), Ndejje would still progress because they have a better head to head. Ndejje beat Nkumba by 12 point s in the first round and lost the second round by 2 points.
Jonah Otim and Micheal Opolot scored 11 points apiece to lead Ndejje to the all important victory. Daniel Otieno added 10 points. Vegetarian were paced by Grace Adra’s game high 13 point and 13 rebounds, Eddie Kabundu contributed 7 points.
In the women’s division, Amazon Rhino fell to Magic Stormers 38-60. Carol Nyafwono led the way for Stormers with 19 points, sarah Nakitende added 17 points and Monica Nassuna contributed 10 points.
Amazon was led by Rose Tracy with 8 points and 11 boards and Lucy Kabanyana also chipped in with 8 points. In the other Saturday game, former champions, A1 Challenge beat Crane High Ladies 61-31, Angella Lokidi leading the way with 18 points and Mariam Birungi added 11. Sarah Ageno led Crane High who were without their top scorer Ritah Imanishimwe with a 10/12 performance.
KIU Rangers beat Nkumba Lady Marines 62-37 On Sunday powered by Florence Nanyonga’s game high 18 points. Jackie Natocho added 11 points and dropped 7 dimes while Judith Nansobya chipped with 10.
Jesca Namugala scored team high 10 points for Lady Marines and Sylvia Nakazibwe added 7 points. Playoff bound school side Nabisunsa blew out MUK Cubs 70-25 with Ruth Nakitto dropping game high 23 points and handing out 4 assists.
Zaina Lokwameri and Sophie Nassaka contributed 16 and 12 points respectively. Anita Kutosi scored 11 points for Cubs who are yet to win a game. In the other Sunday game, Claire Lamuno scored 16 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead Gladiators to a 50-36 win over MUK Sparks. Winnie Anyango scored 15 points for Sparks.
