RWANDA : Basketball League Kicks Off Today

  • The 2012/13 national basketball league season kicks off today after all teams but one (Kigali Institute of Education) submitted their players' lists.
    Initially, the league start had been scheduled for last weekend but because most teams had not yet submitted squads, it was postponed.
    According to Rwanda Basketball Federation secretary general Richard Mutabazi, only Kigali Institute of Education has not submitted their squad list.
    There are two newcomers in league, they include Kimisagara based 30-Plus in the men league, and Rwandans Allied for Peace (RAPP) in the women category.
    The men's league side starts today where 30-Plus plays their first match against defending champions Kigali Basketball Club, while CSK will host APR.
    In other matches National University of Rwanda open their campaign against UGB, while Espoir will meet Rusizi.
    Action continues on Sunday where KBC will host Rusizi, Espoir take on National University of Rwanda and KIE will entertain CSK while UGB will play with APR.
    Five teams are expected to contest in the women league (APR, Na­tional University of Rwanda, KIE, CSK and new team RAPP).
    UGB vs NUR 11am (Rafiki)
    CSK vs APR 2pm (Cercle)
    30-Plus vs KBC 2pm (Kimisagara)
    ESPOIR vs Rusizi 2pm (Rafiki)
