NIGERIA : Continental Basketball - First Deepwater in Last Eight

Nigeria women league champion have maintained an unbeaten record in the ongoing final round of the Africa Champions Cup for Women holding in Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire. After two games in the preliminary round of the continent's biggest women club competition, they have made it to the last eight.
The Oil and Gas ladies laboured to beat Club Sportif SFAXIEN of Tunisia 57-55 points on Saturday and came back in their second group-B game with a 79-45 points win over Kenya Eagle Wings.
The coach Lateef Erinfolami tutored side outplayed the Kenyans in all departments and won all four quarters 19-10, 22-16, 18-09 and 20-10 points respectively. Points guard Upe Atosu lead her team into today's quarter finals against Arc-En-Ciel of Democratic Republic of Congo with 24 points, 4 assist, 3 steal and 2 rebound.
The Nigerian side grabbed 26 rebounds, 15 assists, 18 steals and 15 turn-overs. Coach Erinfolami says the goal of the team is to finish well in the group. Nigeria's golden girl Nkechi Akashili also contributed immensely to her team's victory recording 15 points, 4 steals and 3 assists while Magdalene Ukato added 14 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
They will take on defending champions and group-B seeded team Interclube basketball club of Angola on tomorrow before rounding up preliminary engagement against Abidjan basket club of Cote d'Ivoire on Wednesday.
