NAMIBIA : German Basketball Head in Namibia

THE president of the German Basketball Federation (DBB), Ingo Weiss, is on a seven-day visit to Namibia, the German Embassy announced yesterday.
The purpose of the visit is to review the progress that has been made since his last visit in April 2011 regarding the long-term project carried out by the Namibian Basketball Federation and the German Olympic Sports Confederation together with the expert Frank Albin and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Weiss is also looking forward to visiting the Basketball Artists School in Katutura, which is supported by DBB and where his 14-year old godchild Victoria Shilongo is one of the success stories.
"Weiss is coming on a goodwill visit and will meet the new German ambassador, Onno Hückmann, as well as representatives of the Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF), Directorate of Sport, Namibia Sport Commission (NSC) and Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC), among others," reads a statement from the German Embassy.
Weiss is also the chairperson of the German Sports Youth (DSJ), committee member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and chairperson of the Youth Commission of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Weiss, who is accompanied by his wife Bettina Weiss, is expected to be in Namibia until October 20.
