Ulinzi basketball team is targeting a top 3 finish in the Kenya Basketball Federation according to Coach Eliud Nzioka. The team has had aresurgence in form despite a poor start to the league back in April.
The latest victims of the Defence Forces’ wrath were Mombasa based Kenya Ports Authority whom they beat 71-66 last Saturday at the KPA Gymnasium. According to Nzioka teams in the league should be wary of his team since their main aim is to win all their remaining matches, “we had a bad start but as I told you then it was temporary. Majority of the missing players came back and the way I see it we can beat any team.”
The teams in the league will head to the play-offs after the end of the second leg and the position that each team holds will be essential when it comes to the pooling of the play-offs and this why Nzioka projects a top 3 finish will be in favor of his side, “in the play-offs the 1st team will meet the 8th placed team, the 2nd team meets the 7th placed team and the sequence continues like that so if you manage a good standing at the end of the 2nd leg it means that you will find a weaker team compared to yourself thus increasing the chances of proceeding. But whichever team we will have to meet my side is more than ready.”
Ulinzi currently has 5 more matches to play and are placed 3rd in the standings.
