Kenya’s representatives to this year’s FIBA African women club championships Eagle Wings on Sunday went down to Nigerian champions Deep Waters falling with a 45-78 scoreline after losing in all quarters ( 10-19,16-22,09-16, 16-20).
Silalei Shani was Eagle Wings’ highest points’ scorer with 16 followed by Samba Mjomba with 6 points.
This was the third straight loss for Eagle Wings after losing to CSS Faxien of Tunisia on Friday and defending champions Interclub on Saturday night. The loss to Nigerians was attributed to fatigue.
“The girls looked very exhausted as they had very little time to rest between the two matches, playing against the defending champions the previous night and running again back to the court early on Sunday morning.” Said Agina Wesonga, team official.
Monday will be rest day before Eagle Wings take on Ivory Coast’s ABC on Tuesday in their final group B match.
