Kenya: Lions Maul Thunder to Stay Ahead in Basketball League

LEADERS KCB Lions thumped Thunder 77-53 in a premier league clash at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.
The bankers, who are tops with 26 points led 43-35 at the break and had Tobias Onyango with 21 points while Yoni Wanambiro made 13 and Ancette Wafula hit 12. The losers had 14 from James Ragot and 13 from Griffin Ligare.
Strathmore University hit Blazers 54-29 after a 23-14 half time margin in a game that saw no player hit double figure scores. Safe Spaces won 52-38 over Mennonites as Jane Ouko bagged 13 and Lynette Atieno added 12. In Mombasa, Kenya Ports Authority teams cruised to easy wins over United States International University (USIU) sides in matches played at the KPA Makande Welfare hall.
They beat USIU Tigers 81-73 while the ladies doused USIU Flames 57-43 behind 18 points from Carol Mureji. NYTA Shimba also whipped the Gladiators 65-34. Co-operative Bank of Kenya teams also prevailed in Kakamega as the reigning men's champions hit Masinde Muliro University of Agriculture and Technology 79-58 at the Police Canteen. In the lower division matches in Nairobi, KU Pirates suffered a 56-43 beating from Umoja while Parklands Baptists hit Emyba 58-42.
