UGANDA : Warriors fall to Espoir in Zone 5

Warriors espoirThey say a bad beginning makes a good end s did not go down well with Kyambogo Warriors on Monday night as their bad start led to a bad end.
Warriors lost 56-72 to Espoir of Rwanda in their opening game of 2012 FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championships at Lugogo.
Warriors were done in the early with their failure to defend the inside and poor shooting as they missed the
first 13 shots before Henry Malinga (8 points) opened the scoring with 4:52.
Espoir on the other hand started the game with a 10-0 run as Center, Kami Kabangu constantly found holes in the Warriors’ defense for close easy jumpers. Espoirs’ big man scored game high 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Warriors failed to settle in the game early with the poor choice of shots. They took shots at 18-15 seconds on the shot clock and were always contested by on-point Espoir.
The passing was equally poor giving up possession way too easily, turning over the ball 28 times as well as failing to get any teammate for an open shot.
Warriors tried to come back in the second quarter , ended it with a 7-0 run to close it at 21-32 but was the closest they came all game as Espoirs 3-point play engineered by guards, Aristide Mugabe (16 Points) and Jean Louis Habineza (10 points) gave Warriors no chance of recovery.
Brian Gumisiriza led Warriors with 11 points, Jude Ochen added 9 points while Syrus Kiviri and Norman Blick scored 8 points each. Espoir also beat Warriors at the post, out-boarding the local side 44-25.
