UGANDA : Power, KCC finish third
Ugandan sides DMark Power and KCC Leopards finished third as the Fiba Africa Zone V Club Championships ended yesterday at the Lugogo MTN Arena.
Men’s league champions Power needed two big defensive plays to hold off Kenya’s KCB Lions 66-65, losing finalists at last year’s event. Inside the final 38 seconds, KCB had two attempts to do a double over Power after the 86-76 victory in the pool stage.
When the ball hit the rim on both occasions, centre David Kiberu and forward Isaac Afidra were there to clean the boards. It was more of relief for the latter. KCB had stripped Afidra off the ball to almost snatch the game.
Offensively, Joseph Ikong re-appeared from his near-no-show all week to score a game-high 16 points and six rebounds
