Basketball in Africa

As predicted, it will be a Kenyan affair on Saturday in the finals of the regional basketball championships when women regional defending champions KPA play Eagle Wings who are the reigning Kenyan champions in Kampala.
The winner of the tournament will represent Zone 5 at the FIBA African basketball championships later in the year.
In the first semi finals, Hilda Indasi was in blistering form for her side KPA scoring 23 points and supported by Yvonne Akinyi’s 10 points as the defending champions easily brushed aside Uganda’s Christian University 73-44.
Samba Mjomba and Angela Okoth both collected 17 points for their side Eagle Wings that also defeated KCCA from Uganda 76- 44 to set date with their Kenyan arch rivals KPA in the finals.
Eagle Wings missed last year’s championships held in Dare salaam.
In the men’s edition, KCB crashed out in the semi finals after losing to Urunani 61-76.
