UGANDA :Dress rehearsals for Power-Warriors clash and Zone V

The launch of the upcoming Fiba Africa Zone V Club Championships this week must have tweaked the focus for Uganda’s representatives. From now on, men’s sides DMark Power and Warriors plus women’s teams UCU Lady Canons and KCC Leopards will invest their energy in that competition.Preparations and plays will be called to enable those teams perform well when the region gathers here in just three weeks’ time. Power team manager Philip Kyomuhendo even did some calculations. “That’s 12 training sessions to prepare,” he said. All four would love go into the tournament on a roll in the Airtel National Basketball League.
Warriors face Victoria University Angels chasing seven wins on the bounce at the Lugogo MTN Arena today. This will be Warriors’ last game before facing arch-nemesis Power on Friday. Power face Giant Stormers at the same venue tomorrow. Thereafter, the two men’s rivals will play one game apiece before seeking a first Zone V title for Uganda.
“We are looking at Zone V but the league is very important too,” Warriors’ Ivan Enabu, perhaps aware that his first title is far from fruition, said. “The entire picture cannot be lost for just Zone V. Every game counts.” Enabu has played in two games since his return from injury.
