Rwanda: U.S Based-Duo Boost Under-18 Hoops Preps
The National U-18 team has been reinforced with U.S based duo of Kevin Mbundu and Marvin Mugisha ahead of the African U-18 Basketball championship slated for August 16-25 in Maputo-Mozambique.
Rwanda U-18 men's team earned a ticket to compete at the continental tournament after dispatching Kenya in a two-legged Zone V junior tournament held in Kigali recently.
Rwanda beat Kenya 68-29 and 96-34 respectively to claim the zonal qualification slot.
The Hoops head coach Nenad Amanovic is optimistic the duo will add steel in the team which is ready to storm Africa with compact confidence.
"Both players have good defending skills when the team loses the ball and this is the aspect we hope to work on in the remaining days because we will be facing teams who are good n the ball".
The junior hoops returned back to residential camp at La Pallise Nyadungu this week to intensify their preparations which are held twice daily at Amahoro indoor stadium ahead of their debut in the African junior basketball championship.
