Basketball in Africa

Bashana Baheso basketball club won the annual Lesotho Basketball Association’s Winter Tournament and walked away with M1550.00 in prize money. The victory marked the return of the Club to supremacy after beating the current NBL Champs KTA All Stars by 43-24. This is the first major tournament won by Bashana Bahesoin a long time since the club in recent times has been experiencing a slump after narrowly missing out on the NBL Top-4.

The winter tournament was initialed slated for 7^th July but due to rain interference on that weekend the tournament could not conclude that’s why the men’s finals were played this past weekend (21^st July) at Lehakoe grounds. The LUCT ladies won the tournament in the ladies category.

LBA’s President. Mr. Molupe Mothepu when awarding the money to the Champs congratulated them on their victory and for dethroning KTA and recreating a wave of competition in the league. Mothepu further thanked for the supporters for showing up in great numbers and urged them to come back and support all other forthcoming events, mainly; the inaugural Ladies Only Tournament and the high school’s Top8 and Top4 tournaments to be held in August and September respectively.

The final match was officiated by MaleboeaMolotsi, FakoMasupha and ThabisoMatete.
