KENYA : MMUST hit by Lugasi departure
By BRIAN AYIEKO
Masinde Muliro University basketball team tactician Abel Wafula has admitted that losing his star point guard Alex Lugasi to Kenya Ports Authority was a big blow to the Kakamega based team.
Lugasi shifted alliance to Mombasa after KPA recruited a number of new players to strengthen their squad after a bad start to the League. In the process, they also snatched another star player Abel Nson from 2011 Defending Champions Co-op Bank.
Wafula while speaking to michezoafrika.com said Lugasi had left a big gap but the team was happy for him,
“As you know he was our starting point guard and him leaving will surely affect us, but we must move on. His move to KPA is a different step in his career and we are happy for him, this shows that the quality in the team is worth recognition.”
Wafula mentioned that Mike Otieno would now fill the gap as the main point guard, “When Alex was around Mike was his sub but now he has to fill in the shoes and I am confident that he would be able to do so.”
Alex Lugasi joins his brother Fred Lugasi who also moved from MMUST to KPA.
