Kenya Commercial Bank basketball team coach Morris Shitsama has conceded defeat stating that they lost to a better team that was tactically superior than his side. KCB lost to arch rivals Co-op bank in the finals of the Tom Munyama tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The current KBF League leaders -KCB Lions- went down 59 – 61 to reigning KBF champions Co-op Bank and Shitsama says this is a wakeup call for the side that is yet to be taste defeat in the KBF League after 8 matches,
“The loss showed that we are not invincible and that we need to pull up our socks.”He said.
He blamed his team for failing to utilize their chances as they lost easy lay ups and allowed smooth penetration of their opponents at the backline, “We missed a lot of open chances and free throws. We need to improve on our precision and tighten our defense line,” The coach added.
He went on to state that the loss was a blessing in disguise for KCB as this has helped them gauge their strength and work harder for a better performance in the league if at all they harbor hopes of clinching the coveted KBF title at the end of the season,
“When you have stayed at the top of the table for a long time you tend to relax, now the boys know that other teams are also working hard and there is no room for complacency.”He said.
KCB will play USIU Tigers this coming Sunday and Shitsama believes that the work put in this week’s training will rectify the mistakes made in the game against Co-op bank.
