Div 2. MBC vs. Rhino (12pm)
KAMPALA. UCU Lady Canons reminded KCC Leopards that they will not relinquish the Airtel National Basketball League title without a fight.
The champions edged their biggest rivals for the crown 51-46 at YMCA court as the two giants wrapped their first round quotas on Friday. The two still are the best bets for the finals but in case KCC earn a repeat date to avenge the 4-0 series loss last year, this result posed questions.
Coach Timothy Odeke must find answers to reigning MVP Purity Adhiambo. The centre led UCU, scoring with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
KCC have definitely closed the gap after beating their rivals twice during the inter-cities earlier this year.
Martha Soigi dropped a game-high 17 points and 15 rebounds, matching UCU for size, but the weapons need to be spread further. The closely contested game started with a 9-all tie after the first period before KCC took charge by taking the next 17-11.
