UGANDA : Titans hand Power first season loss, Ameny dominant - again


power ucuKIU Titans held off DMark Power's run down the stretch for a 71-67 win on Sunday night at YMCA. Power (8-1) started with their high intensity game and took the first quarter 25-15. Titans (7-1) trimmed Power's 10 points lead down to 2 at halftime. The university side opened the the third quarter with an 8-0 run as Power went through a nearly five minutes strech without scoring a point. best defensive team in the league. With Power trailing 56-65 2:30 to the horn Isaac Afidra (12 points) hit a big trey to put Power with in 6. The surge continued and with 8 seconds to the buzzer Ben Komakech was sent to the line, hit the throws to put Power with in 67-69 but were his team's final points. Kamakech scored game high 23 points. Joseph Ikong added 11 points for Power. Salim Ali played out the 40 minutes and led KIU with 17 points and picked 9 rebounds. Micheal Makiadi added 12 points and 10 boards while Brian Wati put up 11.
Meanwhile Philp Ameny posted another big performance to lead Falcons to an 89-48 blow out win over Giant Stormers. The center scored game high 19 points and added 8 rebounds to push Falcons for their third straight win. Julius Lutwama and Peter Elungat chipped in with 11 each and Francis Tumusime added 10 points. Stormers were undone by the poor ball handling. The new comers gave up possession 27 times.
