UGANDA : Newcomers’ night out in Fuba League

Rez Life and Vegetarian came through a bruising Division Two series final last year and must have hoped to enjoy life in the top tier upon promotion.
Predictably, they have found the going very tough in Division One, which makes their clash at YMCA court today even more important.
Neither has won a game yet, with Rez Life losing to Eagles (58-70), Giant Stormers (69-83) and Ndejje University Angels (58-81). Vegetarian have only played the toughest teams thus far which have ended in losses to DMark Power (65-102), Falcons (58-68) and Warriors (44-71). The three sides have 12 titles between them.
KIU Titans (30-63) and Heaters (66-70) have also feasted on Vegetarian. When the two faced off for Division Two honours last December, Rez Life edged it 88-84 with William Odong grabbing 24 points and 10 rebounds to clinch the series 3-2.
Turnaround
Davis Apuuli added 21 and 12 boards for the victors but both had already qualified hence the significance was minimal.
This clash is all the more crucial with the top division being expanded from 10 to 12 teams. The winner knows it could kicks tart a turnaround.  On the other hand, defeat could mean looking over the shoulder for the rest of the campaign as most promoted teams rarely survive the chop.
A Third Division clash between Livingstone and Emperors will set the stage for the topflight game.
