UGANDA : Falcons flying higher, Lady Canons complete first round unbeaten
Falcons jumped to second place of the men’s premier division in the FUBA Airtel National Basketball League following their 80-44 beat down on Nkumba Marines.
Steven Omony paced Falcons with 17 points and picked 7 rebounds. Peter Elungat added 12 points and Julius Lutwama chipped in with 11.
This was Falcons’ second in a row scoring 80 or more points and have won every game they have score 61 or more points this season. Danson Ngati led Marines with 17 points, 15 coming from beyond the arc. Wilson Otweyo added 11 and picked 9 rebounds for the university side.
Falcons will complete their first round schedule on Friday against defending champions, Dmark Power in a possible post season second round match up.
Meanwhile KIU Titans bounced back from an overtime loss to Warriors with a 64-44 win over Rez Life Saints powered by Francis Kasekende’s game high16 points.
Brian Wati added 15 points and Michael Makiadi’s 9 points came along with17 boards for Titans (8-2). Point guard, Salim Ali looked out of sync scoring just a pair of points for Titans.
Abdul Ntale’s double-double (11 points, 13 rebounds) was in a loosing effort for Rez Life (11-0). William Odong added 12 points. The loss meant Rez Life is the only team to complete the first round without a win.
In the women’s division, UCU Lady Canons once again showed their supremacy in the division with a 51-46 edge out of rivals KCC Leopards on Friday. The win culminated UCU’s first round which they have gone unbeaten. Purity Adhiambo paced Lady Canons with a 15/13 performance, and Morren Amoding added 11 points. Martha Soigi played out the entire 40 minute and posted a big double-double (17 points, 15 rebounds) for Leopards in a loosing effort.
