Basketball in Africa

Masinde Muliro University basketball team tactician Abel Wafula has labeled their weekend KBF Premier League match against Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) as a must win fixture .The boys from Western will travel all the way to Mombasa to face their hosts KPA on Saturday at the KPA gymnasium from 4.00pm.
The Kakamega based team has won only one of their three matches this season and Wafula hopes a win over the ports men will improve their standings on the log,
“A win will help us especially in the mathematics of the table standings and will also boost our morale when they (KPA) come to play us at home. Anyway the boys are psyched up and I expect a good game from them. Technically we are well prepared,”
MMUST have also acquired the services of rookie John Maangi who will be part of the travelling team to Mombasa, “He plays the big man position and I saw this as a chance to see what he can do against an experienced side away in Mombasa,” Wafula concluded.
The team is expected to land in Mombasa on Friday evening.
