KENYA : Under-18 Boys Squad Starts Z5 Training

THE provisional Under-18 boys basketball team have started training for next month's Zone Five Fiba Africa qualifiers in Rwanda. Coach Tony Ochieng said yesterday the boys, all based in Nairobi, will train at Upper Hill School up to tomorrow.
They will be joined later by players from outside the county. The Kigali show is slated for July 17-22. Kenya Basketball Federation have named a squad of 22 to train under Ochieng and George Mayienga.
The players are: Basil Okongo (Malezi), James Wanjara, Vernon Obonyo, Nelson Mandela (Maseno), George Okoth (Strathmore), Dennis Odhiambo (Alliance, Michael Maeta (Alliance), Bushman Wamukoya (Laiser Hill). Moses Osure , Martin Mugambi , Joseph Ongoro , Adrian Odindo , Jacob Njoroge ( Upper Hill), Samuel Mogoko (NIS), Cedric Omondi, Reuben Muraya, Joseph Obiero, Sydney Mwanza (FSK), Hamisi Taisir (Mombasa Baptist), Shilton Ochieng, Fredrick Odhiambo and Cedric Lugasi (Sigalame).
Meanwhile the U-18 girls coach Philip Onyango will call upon 19 players for non residential training for the same event. Onyango said he had identified 10 players from the coast and nine from Nairobi counties, two from self sponsored club Safe Spaces while the rest are high school girls.

PETER OKUMU HERE,WE NEED TO BE CONVINCED THAT THIS TEAM IS UNDER 18,WE KNOW KENYA BASKETBALL CHIEFS ARE GOOD AT GIVING FAKE BIRTH CERTIFICATES TO STUDENTS,PHILIP ONYANGO OF SHIMBA HILLS DID IT 2008 IN TUNISIA AND WAS CAUGHT.ASK HIM TO COMMENT ON THIS MATTER.ORERO PRINCIPAL UPPERHILL IS THE MASTER OF DOCUMENT FORGERIES,HE DID IT FOR MARIGA AND OLIECH AT KAMUKUNJI SCHOOL.HE IS KNOWN.

ITS true that this team is not under 18yrs, i have played basketball at the university level and i see the same guys i played with at the university games, later compete at the high school games, its soo sad that we can not give our young boys the chance to play
