Thunder basketball team that participates in the Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League last evening received an assortment of basketball equipment including six basketball balls donated to the team by michezoafrika.
Thunder trains at the Shauri Moyo social hall every evening and as explained by team captain Griffin Ligare, the six balls donated will support the team in developing their drills and technical growth as they charge themselves towards challenging for the KBF Premier League top spots.
“We did not have enough balls to carry out drills involving ball work and shooting but now this is a motivation for our better performance in the league. We thank all those behind this support and michezoafrika for consistently supporting us.”
While handing over the equipment, Michezoafrika's Walter Machio stated why Thunder was chosen to benefit from the kit and balls support,
"As part of our sports development initiatives, michezoafrika has identified Thunder as a team with consistent performance in the Kenyan league. The team is self supported and playing a major role of promoting young talent." Machio said.
“We will keep working with other teams across Kenya that have been consistent in their quest for excellence and especially those teams that use sports to transform lives. It is not easy to reach out to all teams with noble initiatives but we would love to expand our networks by getting to know where the teams are based. We encourage teams to keep getting in touch with us through our email info@michezoafrika.com.” Machio added.

Saints basketball team from Athi River which plays in the Nairobi Basketball Association League (Division 2) and is coached by last year’s most valuable player Samba Mjomba also recently benefited from the kit and balls support initiatives through michezoafrika.
The equipment are part of a consignment donated by Baylor University sports team which is based in Waco, Texas. The team was in Kenya between 14th and 25th May 2012 for a series of sports development initiatives in partnership with michezoafrika.
