KENYA : Kenya to Host Afro-Basket Youth Tournament
KENYA will host the Fiba Africa Afro-basket under-16 championships in August, officials announced yesterday. According to the Zone Five calendar of events released by Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) 1st vice chairman George 'Nyundo' Omondi, the tournament will be held on August 27-29 in Nairobi.
This will be the first continental event hosted by the country since 1997. He said the boys and girls under-18 show will be held from July 17-2 in Kigali, Rwanda. This will be followed by the Zuku Slamfest Kenya to be held from August 17 -19. Uganda will play host to the regional club championships from August 20-26.
The event will coincide with the Zonal congress on August 24. This will be followed by an international refresher clinic for referees in Nairobi from December 2-4. The senior Nations Cup for men and women will be held on December 5-9 in Dar-es Salaam, Tanzania. The last calendar of events for the year will be the international refresher clinic for commissioners slated for Nairobi on February 10-12.
