UGANDA : UCU Canons surge past Nkumba

The rise of KIU Titans in the past week perhaps reminded UCU Canons that they might have to work a little harder to get to the Fuba League semifinals again.
KIU beat UCU 51-42 and Falcons 64-54 in a space of four days to stake a claim to being the third best team behind DMark Power and Warriors, at least for now.
UCU got the message and responded with an 83-62 victory over Nkumba Marines at YMCA on Friday night in the expanded 12-team Fuba League Men’s Division One.
Boniface Okello, signed from Power, came off the bench to separate the two sides with a game-high 20 points and seven assists.
Nkumba were slow off the blocks as they trailed 12-18 and 12-16 after the first two quarters.
Somehow, coach Timothy Odeke pulled his team together to take the third 26-21. UCU held a narrow 55-50 heading into the final period.
A tense finish was on the cards for the tiny crowd. It was an anti-climax as Nkumba wilted. UCU passed the acid test easily
