In Summary
Airtel replace MTN as new main sponsors as Rwenzori Bottling Company, Castle Lite and Daily Monitor sign up as topflight league partners.

Airtel have taken over from MTN as the new National Basketball League main sponsors.Rwenzori Bottling Company, Castle Lite and Daily Monitor are also partners for the re-branded league that has been ongoing without any corporate support since April.
“We are making a large enough contribution to take this game to the next level,” VG Somasekhar, the Airtel-Uganda managing director, revealed to the media in Kampala yesterday. Financial details of the new deal were, however, not revealed.
The year-long partnership heralds a new era after eight years with MTN, another telecommunications company, as the main sponsors.
The deal will though only benefit the men’s Division One and the women’s league which comprise 12 teams each.
Fuba made a commitment to run the Division Two and Three. Those other two divisions have 41 teams in total. Fuba officials and Kinetic Management Group (KMG), the sports management company that brokered the deal, repeatedly referred to the rebranding as ‘growth~.
A new logo to match the buzz was unveiled with Fuba president Ambrose Tashobya vowing to have the Lugogo Indoor Stadium active for basketball soon. Uganda is to host the Zone V Club Championships in July and August. “Currently, the venue is open to all sports except basketball because we were told to purchase new hoops worth about 23, 000 Euros, half of which we have managed to raise,” Tashobya said. “We are also in negotiations with SuperSport but that cannot happen when we are using an outdoor venue since rain can distract us.”
Every fan who buys a ticket for the DMark Power-Warriors clash tomorrow will get Shs2, 000 airtime at the entrance and more goodies were promised.
