KENYA : Baylor team donates kit to Saints Basketball

Athi- River based self supported club – The Saints basketball team- on Saturday received playing kit donations and balls from visiting Baylor University Sports team from Waco, Texas in the USA.
The Saints team that plays in the Nairobi Basketball League (NBA) is coached by Eagle Wings player Samba Mjomba.
Michezoafrika’s Walter Machio who is part of the team coordinating Baylor’s visit in Kenya together with Wes Yeary the Baylor team leader presented the kit to the team before they went into their Division 2 league match against Kenyatta University. 
While handing over the donations Yeary said that they were glad to support initiatives that recognize and appreciate sports as an important tool that brings change to the community.
Yeary emphasized the need for a complete team that works towards achieving a mental, spiritual and physical growth of the persons engaged in the sports,
“Baylor is a Christian University and part of our agenda is to push for an all round growth including spiritual mentorship and community transformation alongside physical growth, that is why we are supporting such initiatives.” He said.
Samba Mjomba appreciated the support saying they need more encouragement since they are self supported and require all the help they can get.
“Words cannot express how excited we are. The team has been struggling to get such kind of support and you guys are just like angels from heaven. May God bless all of you,” Samba said.
