NIGERIA : Civil Defense Continues Losing Streak

The Defenders Basketball Club of Abuja lost to the Niger Potters on home ground by 81- 76 points. The Civil Defense is yet to win a game in the league this season.
Their loss to Niger Potters will further fuel speculation of the team's incapability to compete in Nigeria's foremost and prestigious basketball league.
The Defenders had a bad start in the game and spent the 1st quarter attempting to close the points gap initiated by the Niger Potters team.
Although the Defenders improved on overall coordination, power offence and technical defense as compared to their previous performances, they were not able to translate all that into a win at the game's end.
The 2nd quarter saw both teams at par of 36 points and by the 4th quarter, the Defenders had a respectable lead of 54-58 points. Potters of Niger State had the win at the end of the game by 5 points.
Coach of the Niger Potters, Yaya Ishiaku, told LEADERSHIP SPORTS exclusively that he was confident of his team winning. He also stated that they were desperate to improve their ranking at the league table based on the fact that they had only won two of the six matches they have played inthe competition
