NAMIBIA : NBF Finalizes Under-20 Regional Trials
Windhoek — Two exciting months of discovering and maturing of talent successfully came to an end, after the Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) held it's final trials in Tsumeb on Saturday.
Fifty players and ten coaches from the Caprivi, Kavango, Oshikoto and Otjozondjupa regions took part in the long and rewarding trials and in the end only six male (Paita Cecilio, Iyaloo Fransiseo, Mcdonald Garab, Stephen Kaluwa, Argentino Sengue, Siwongo Siwongo) and four females (Merlyn Lucas, Telma Matengu, Vanessa Neumann, Yolanda Tobias) were invited for the upcoming national trials set for the 27 and 29th of this month at Augustineum Secondary School in Khomasdal.
The national trials will consist of an intensive three-day basketball clinic, aimed at mentally and physically testing the player's abilities, as well as their attitude and commitment. After those three days, the best players will be chosen for the national squad and invited to preparation camps.
Following seven months of intense preparation, the most committed players will form the national team and represent Namibia at the U-20 Zone VI Youth Games in December later this year in Zambia.
