GAMBIA : Lamin Beat YMCA in Basketball Finals
Lamin on Saturday beat YMCA by 50 points to 46 in the Late Pa Modou Sarr Memorial Basketball final played at the Serekunda West Basketball Court.
Lamin went into the break with a 23-points to 15 lead but YMCA came into the second half the stronger side and leveled the tie at 35 points all in the end fell short of the required points to secure the title.
Speaking to Observer Sports shortly after the final whistle, Salieu Jallow the head coach of Lamin hailed the performance of his side. He said that all his players are students, adding that he has been nurturing them since they were young.
For his part, Amadou Trawally the coach of YMCA said the defeat was a lesson as it will help them prepare better next time.
Andrew Pikin Jatta, a member of the organising committee said the tournament was organised to honour their colleague, brother and teammate Pa Modou Sarr, who died in a car accident in 2004 in the United States of America.
